Born in Aberporth in West Wales, Mike Kallenberg started running at the age of 12. He achieved his first Welsh vest at the age of 16 in mountain running and since then has gone on to represent Wales on more than 30 occasions on road, track, cross country and mountains. At the age of 18 he moved to Cardiff to study Modern History and Politics at Cardiff Metropolitan University. This was where his journey with Team Thie began. Whilst studying at Cardiff Met uni in 2010 he achieved his first GB vest as a junior at the European Mountain Running Championships and also the World Mountain Running Championships. Since then, he has run for GB on two other occasions, both at the World 50k Championships in 2015 and 2016 where he finished 8th and 6th respectively. Now a proud member of the RAF, he is focussing on the marathon and hoping to better his PB of 2.20.18.
