Michael (03/11/1990) was raised in Gilwern, Monmouthshire and is a proud member of Cardiff AAC.

He began athletics at the age of 15 whilst at school and came through the school and club ranks to compete for Wales at both track and cross country on multiple occasions. Michael then went on to complete his bachelor’s degree at Cardiff Met where he joined coach James Thie. Throughout this time he saw rapid improvement across all distances and secured a full athletics scholarship to the University of Lamar (Texas) to study a Masters degree in Kinesiology.

Whilst at Lamar Michael enjoyed a successful college cross country career helping the Lamar Cardinals win back to back Southland conference championships and captaining them in his last year.
