Tom was raised on a farm in Rhayader, Mid Wales, where the outdoors, and particularly sport played a pivotal role in his upbringing. He attended Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2007, continuing his sporting lifestyle. During his time at Cardiff Met he would go on to win 2 medals at the British Championships, helping him on his way to earning a full athletics scholarship to the University of Tulsa, in Oklahoma. During his time there, he successfully earned a Master’s of Business Administration, and won 5 individual Championship medals, 3 of which were gold. Alongside this, Tom also gained numerous academic honours, helping him on his way to finding work upon his return to the UK.

The Cardiff AAC runners career has included many high moments which include breaking 4 minutes for the mile on two occasions with his fastest of 3:58.31 being achieved at the Morton Games in Ireland in 2017. Tom has also won an impressive 14 Welsh titles and has represented Great Britain on two occasions with a proud moment for the group happening in 2017 when he anchored the mixed relay team to gold at the European Cross Country Championships in Samorin.
