Team Thie Elite Running team group at BUCS 2016

BUCS is the most competitive of university competitions in the UK. As my role of performance director for athletics at Cardiff Met, this is one of our most important weekends of the year. I also have the added interest in some the distance runners, for both Cardiff Met and Cardiff University. Some of the guys are regulars to training and others sometimes link in with the group. Overall, a pleasing set of results in this early season event, with personal bests. Looking forward to the rest of the summer for these guys and then building on this for next year. Selected distance results (Cardiff Met unless started) 800m heats Oli Lum 1500m Semi finals Mattie Edwards (6th) Niall Holt (5th) 5000m Andrew Wright (Cardiff Uni) 8th (14:46pb /14:47pb in heats) Gareth Griffiths heats 15:20pb 10000m Lucy Marland 7th 37:24pb Josh Griffiths 7th 31:22pb Aaron Pritchard 34:19pb 3000m sc Matt Sesson 10th (9:30pb in heats) Richard Webb (Cardiff Uni) 11th In the team competition, our Cardiff Met athletes won a total of 13 medals and scored enough points to take 2nd place. That was a huge team performance, and led through Adele Nicoll (Shot Gold) women’s 4 x 100m (Gold) & Jonny Hopkins retaining his 3000m steeplechase title.
